The Azores
The Azores are a Portuguese archipelago situated in the North Atlantic Ocean. The Azores are comprised of nine volcanic islands which are then divided into nineteen Municipalities.
The islands consist of Sal Miguel Island, Terceira Island, Faial Island, Pico Island, Sãu Jorge Island, Santa Maria Island, Graciosa Island, Flores Island and Corvo Island.
The Azores have a temperate, maritime climate. Light cloud cover is common throughout the year.
The coastlines have sheltered coves which makes the Azores ideal for swimming.
