Baker County - Florida

Baker County is situated in Northern Florida between Duval Countand (Jacksonville) and Columbia County (Lake City). It was first created in 1861 and was named for James McNair Baker, a judge and Confederate Senator.

Baker County was originally a farming area with the main crops being cotton and corn. In addition sugar cane, sweet potatoes and other vegetables were grown.
