Basilicata - Italy
Basilicata is a mountainous region situated in the south of Italy.
Basilicata borders Campania to the west, Apulia (Puglia)
to the east and Calabria to the south. Basilicata has two coastlines, a short coastline on the Tyrrhenian Sea and another of the Gulf of Taranto in the Ionian Sea. The regional capital is called Potenza.
Basilicata is divided into two provinces, Matera and Potenza. Basilicata is rich with archaeological relics and remains of the Greek era can be found in Metaponto while ruins of the Roman Age can be seen in Venosa.
Basilicata is not so well known as many regions which makes it an ideal location for those who prefer to see the "real" Italy.
