Brittany
Brittany is situated in the northwest of France and lies between the English Channel in the north and the Bay of Biscay in the south. Brittany is comprised of five departments, Finstere, Cotes-d'Armor, Ille-et-Vilaine, Loire-Atlantiqe and Morbihan.
Brittany is famous for its megalithic monuments which are scattered over the peninsula. The largest of these are near Carnac. Brittany is also known for its calvaries. These are elaborately carved sculptures of crucifixion scenes and are found in churchyards of villages and small towns.
The walled city of Saint-Malo is a popular tourist attraction and has ferry routes to the UK.
Brittany has a warm temperate climate and regular rainfall which keeps the countryside green and wooded. Sunny, cloudless days are also common.
