Eastern Anatolia - Turkey
The Eastern Anatolia Region of Turkey is located in the
easternmost part of Anatolia. It is bounded by the Central Anatolia Region to the west, Black Sea Region to the north, Southeast Anatolia Region and Iraq to the south and Iran, Nakhichevan and Armenia to the east.
Most of Eastern Anatolia has a high altitude with long winters and short summer periods. The region contains 11% of the total forested area of Turkey. There are many sights such as Mount Ararat, Akdamar, Van Lake and Zeugma. The Regions of Eastern Anatolia are Agri, Ardahan, Bingol, Bitlis, Elazig, Erzincan, Erzurum, Hakkari, Igdir, Kars, Malatya, Mus, Tunceli and Van.
