Europe
Europe is a continent which offers dramatic landscapes, picturesque villages, history and culture. In fact, Europe has something to offer everyone.
Artists and musicians throughout time have been inspired by Europe.
Surprisingly, Europe is the second smallest continent in the world yet has some of the oldest archaelogical and historical sites in the world.
Each country in Europe is unique in its culture and history. Europe is the birthplace of the Roman Empire, the Celts, Saxons and Vikings. It is also the birthplace of famous musicians such as Beethovan and Mozart and artists such as Monet and Rembrandt.
Europe also has a diverse landscape, ranging from the mountainous areas of the Alps to the lowlands of the Great European Plains.
The climate of Europe is milder in comparison to other areas of the same latitude around the globe due to the influence of the Gulf Stream. The Gulf Stream is nicknamed "Europe's central heating", because it makes Europe's climate warmer and wetter than it would otherwise be. The Gulf Stream not only carries warm water to Europe's coast but also warms up the prevailing westerly winds that blow across the continent from the Atlantic Ocean.
In addition, the climate of Europe is extremely varied, from the Mediterranean climate to the cooler climates of Scandinavia.
