Filfla - Malta
Filfla is a small barren uninhabited island which makes up the Maltese Archipelago. It is located 5 kilometres south of Malta.
In 1343 there was a chapel built inside a cave on the island but this was destroyed by an earthquake in 1856.
Filfia is now a bird sanctuary but can only be visited for educational or scientific purposes and prior permission has to be obtained from the Minister responsible for the environment.
