Gran Canaria
Gran Canaria is sometimes known as Grand Canary and is the third largest island in the Canary Islands.
Gran Canaria is a volcanic island located southeast of Tenerife and west of Fuerteventura. The other islands in the group are Lanzarote, La Palma, Gomera, El Hierro and several smaller ones.
Gran Canaria is divided into twenty-one municipalities. Gran Canaria has a diverse climate with the north being cooler and the south warmer and sunnier. It also has a variety of landscapes from the mountainous centre to the desert like sand dunes of Maspalomas. Gran Canaria is protected by UNESCO as a Biosphere Reserve.
Gran Canaria is a popular holiday resort and as such has many bars and hotels. Gran Canaria would make an excellent holiday or villa location.
